EAGALA Sessions

As much as No Stone Unturned believes in the validity of the EAGALA Model, unfortunately, at this time are no longer offering sessions.

No Stone Unturned Equestrian offers an experiential learning approach using horses as

a pathway to finding meaningful solutions to challenges we may be facing in our lives.

Participants learn about themselves, and others, by engaging in activities with the horses.

E.A.L. is based on the concept that clients have their own best solutions if just given the

opportunity to discover them.

No previous experience or knowledge of horses is necessary, or required, to participate

in this special method of emotional growth and learning.  This work is done on the ground with

the horses and no mounted work is used at all

horsemanship skills.

The Socratic method is used where the focus is on the client finding his or her own answers and experiences the

confidence that follows from self discovery and ownership of ideas and solutions. In E.A.L., horses are simply allowed to be themselves and are loose and free to choose to respond to the client and to other horses in the session.

In summary, horses provide a wonderful metaphor for human relationships. Since participants are often forced to change their behaviour in order to change the behaviour of the horse, they are taking responsibility for their own behaviours. Relationship with horses teaches the fine line between aggression and assertion. Participants can learn the basics of

respect, taking ownership of problems, and maintaining healthy relationships through their interactions with horses (Kersten & Thomas, 2004).

I have recently completed Parts One and Two with EAGALA (eagala.org) and have earned my certification as an Equine Specialist.  In addition, I have completed a ten hour Natural Horsemanship course and am required to participate in Continuing Education courses through EAGALA to maintain my certification with them.
